Golden Hour in the Backyard

September 14, 2016

I took my Nikon D300 fit with a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 and followed my son into the backyard. The light was gorgeous and starting to creep up on the fence as the sun came closer to setting. This lens is probably sharpest around f/8 so I decided I would try it out while I watched my son move from one thing to another. These shots were all taken within a half hour of each other. I love to shoot on manual, to have control over my exposures. And I love to shoot with well angled light. I often times will stick with one f-stop during a shoot like this (or at least stay within one stop). This way I can really get a sense of what results are yielded. This is extremely helpful when shooting action sports or weddings. I can then quickly make a decision on how I want the scene to transpose to my sensor.
