I was out near the Ventura fairgrounds yesterday afternoon to practice with my autofocus. Since the pandemic began I'm getting a little rusty with the sports photography due to a relative lack of sports out there. This time I shot at primarily 500mm on a DX sensor and really tried to lock on to each surfer as they dropped in or shredded the waves. My goal was tack sharp focus as much as possible. Back button focus helps tremendously in this area but it wasn't always a hit. Below are a few of my favorites from the day, but click on any photo to visit the full gallery.
I decided that I will start creating public galleries online so that the photos (good or bad) can be taken via screenshot by anyone that appears in the images (again, click on any image below to access that gallery). I figured folks might want their pictures rather than me just deleting or archiving them somewhere to never be seen again. But please only take the photo if you are in it and use it for posting on social media or whatever your own personal use it. If you want high-resolution images I am available for hire so please do contact me through the website.
